Parkinsonia Projects (2002 – Dec 04) – $36,298

The Funds indicated were transferred to DCQ along with project management in Jan 04. This is a devolved grants project aimed at preventing the spread of parkinsonia across the Lake Eyre Basin. The implementation of community / land-manager developed projects for parkinsonia management will be enabled through partnerships between local governments, land-manager representative bodies, land-manager groups, and individuals. This will include chemical, mechanical, stock management, and biological control in conjunction with aerial and ground surveys, mapping, field days, and development of a 'Weed Alert Program'.

Rubber vine Projects (2002 – Dec 04) – $86,585

The Funds indicated were transferred to DCQ along with project management in Jan 04. This is a devolved grants project, in partnership with the Shire Rural Lands Officers Group, to survey and control rubber vine

Interim Funding Arrangements Funding (Jul 04 – Sep 04) – $343,000

Stage 2 Interim Funding (Oct 03 – Jun 04) – $709,533

Bridging Funding (Jul 03 – Sep 03) – $114,300

Facilitator / Coordinator Interim Funding (Jan 03 – Jun 03) – $435,400

These projects deliver continued support to the positions identified as essential in the transition to the regional process.

DCQ works in partnership with, and is supported by, 3 implementation groups (Cooper's Creek Catchment Committee, Georgina Diamantina Catchment Committee and Desert Uplands Build-Up and Development Committee).

These groups have extensive networks, expertise in natural resource management, and skilled staff. The positions are essential to the ongoing momentum and support of the regional planning process and its ability to deliver an accredited NRM Plan and Regional Investment Strategy for the DCQ area.

The DCQ region is large and effective planning involves the utilization, support, and expertise of each individual of the DCQ team. This will ensure the best possible delivery of NHT 2 processes as well as the collation and development of the NRM Plan and Regional Investment Strategy.

These positions will also support the on-ground activities of other DCQ projects through other funding sources.
